The Rosin Lab performs retinal (ERG) and CNS (VEP, multi-electrode arrays) recordings from the Primary Visual Cortex (V1) and the Superior Colliculus (SC) prior to and following treatment application in animal models of visual disability. We are interested in developing rehabilitation strategies aimed at normalizing network activity, as well as novel estimates of visual function and functional vision to aid in such rehabilitation. Our laboratory collaborates with many other laboratories at the Vision Institute to develop such methods across various models. We are currently applying these methods in the APRA-H THEA project (Transplantation of Human Eye Allograft), a collaborative multi-institutional effort aimed at achieving the ambitious goal of transplanting a functional human eye.

The Lab is headed by Boris Rosin, MD, PhD, a physician-scientist whose research focuses on inherited retinal diseases, neural adaptation to vision loss, and the development of vision restoration therapies.
