Boris Rosin, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at UPMC, where he leads the Visual Function and Rehabilitation Laboratory, studying visual signal processing in the central nervous system in animal models of inherited retinal diseases (IRDs). He earned his MD-PhD at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where his doctoral work on Deep Brain Stimulation in Parkinson's disease produced a novel DBS method published in Neuron, now under evaluation in a Medtronic-sponsored clinical trial. He trained in IRDs during his ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal fellowships under Professor Eyal Banin and Dr. José-Alain Sahel. His current research includes two observational studies on IRD natural history and ongoing collaborations with the UPMC Vision Institute and Dr. Sahel. He is a recipient of the Career Development Award from the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
